A shooter wanted for the murder of an Air India employee last year was arrested in Noida on Thursday following an encounter, during which he sustained a bullet injury to his leg. The accused, Sikander, who had been on the run for a year, confessed that the murder of the Air India employee, Suraj Mann, was orchestrated by gangster Kapil Mann, currently lodged in Delhi’s Mandoli jail.
On the night of the incident, Suraj was sitting in his car outside a gym when unidentified assailants opened fire at him. During the investigation, Sikander revealed that Parvesh had ordered the hit on Kapil’s brother to avenge his father’s death.
Despite police attempts to intercept him, Sikander ignored orders to stop at a check post, leading to a chase. The breakthrough came when Noida police tracked him down and arrested him following the encounter. A pistol, a cartridge, and a motorcycle were recovered from the scene of the encounter.
According to police, Suraj wanted to live a peaceful life, free of crime, and distanced from his brother Parvesh, who was linked to dreaded gangsters Kala Rana and Lawrence Bishnoi. However, despite having no criminal record, Suraj’s association with his brother ultimately cost him his life.
After confirming Sikander’s involvement in the crime through CCTV footage, a reward of ₹25,000 was announced for any information leading to his arrest.
