Today Sister Nivedita University celebrated 'World Photography Day', with a Photography competition and a masterclass based on Photography in general hosted by Modhura Palit a well known cinematographer and a photographer in the Bengali film industry.
Modhura Palit, has a remarkable portfolio that spans various genres and mediums. She has worked on numerous critically acclaimed films and projects, including Kshmish, Kacher Manush Dilkhush ,Amar Colony and many more.Her expertise and unique perspective have earned her awards such as the Pierre Angénieux ExcelLens award at Cannes.
She studied cinematography from Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI). She is also Member of the Indian Women Cinematographers Collective (IWCC) as well as of the Eastern India Cinematographers Association (EICA), she is part of the Busan Asian Film Academy (AFA), and she took part in the Looking China Youth Film Project in 2015. She was part of Berlinale Talents 2023 under Berlin International Film Festival too.
The program begun with our respected Vice Chancellor Sir, Prof. Dhrubajyoti Chattopadhyay giving a speech on how photography can change the word, and show us the world from different perspectives. Felicitating our guest Ms. Modhura Palit we continued with the seminar.
Giving us different perks on how photography came into light , she even gave us an insightful knowledge about the do's and don'ts of photography.
Carrying forward the session with some enriching interaction with the students she also played some quizzes with them.
She even mentioned the fact that photography can be a valuable career choice for students as it enhances creativity and allows one to capture important moments. With skills in photography, students can explore various fields like journalism, advertising, and art. It also teaches attention to detail, which is useful in both studies and professional life.
She infact shared her struggles with the students and how she has got through all the thick and thin of life and reached at a top notch position where she is now.
Her journey truly inspired a lot sitting on that side of the platform and people like us.
